Elgin is 24 miles from Columbia and sports a population of just over 7000 residents. Once known as Blaney, SC, the name was changed in the 1960's when the Elgin Watch Company came to town.
Today, reminders of the old name remain in Blaney
Elementary School, Blaney Baptist Church, and Blaney Dragstrip. |
